THE THERAPY STUDIO
Outpatient Treatment Services for Psychological Health

PsyGlobal Therapy Studio is a private outpatient clinic offering comprehensive screening and psychotherapy services for psychological health and substance abuse. Psychotherapy consists of a series of techniques for psychological health and treating emotional and psychiatric disorders. Our staff comprises experienced, licensed professionals to ensure good practice.
Psychotherapy is the "Treatment of emotional, behavioral, personality, and psychiatric disorders based primarily on verbal or nonverbal communication and interventions with the patient, in contrast to treatments using chemical and physical measures."
Simply put, psychotherapy aims to alleviate psychological distress through talking, rather than drugs.
Some people refer to psychotherapy as "talking treatment" because it is generally based on talking to the therapist or group of people with similar problems. Some forms also use other means of communication, including writing, artwork, drama, narrative story or music. Sessions take place within a structured encounter between a qualified therapist and a client or clients.

Outpatient Treatment may consist of Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, or Family Therapy, Medication Management or any combination of these four types of treatment. PsyGlobal Therapy Studio offers the first three modalities.

The general focus and goal of all outpatient treatment is to reduce or alleviate the individual’s symptoms, to return to baseline or improve the level of functioning and/or to prevent deterioration in the individual's condition.

The therapist aims to:
1. Access/mobilize the individual’s strengths
2. Build upon existing coping strategies, and/or
3. Help the individual utilize available community resources and support systems as appropriate.

Individual Therapy
An individual is involved in a therapeutic setting with a mental health or substance abuse clinician on an individual basis. Individual therapy should be considered when the individual is experiencing symptoms that are impacting his/her day to day functioning, relationships, work or school performance or the person has been unable to  recover without assistance.
Group Therapy
A process in which a number of people are involved in a therapeutic setting at the same time under the guidance of a mental health or substance abuse clinician. Groups focus on an individual within the context of a group, on interactions that occur among individuals in the group, or on the group as a whole.

Family Therapy
The identified patient in family therapy may be a child, adolescent or adult. Family therapy should be considered when the family is affected by the either the individual’s condition or the individual’s treatment, the individual’s symptoms or lack of functioning is reflective of family problems or the identified individual is a child/adolescent or a young adult still living at home.

When should you consider Psychotherapy?

Some people seek psychotherapy because they have felt depressed, anxious or angry for a long time. Others may want help for a chronic illness that is interfering with their emotional or physical well-being. Still others may have short-term problems they need help navigating. They may be going through a divorce, facing an empty nest, feeling overwhelmed by a new job or grieving a family member's death, for example.

Signs that you could benefit from therapy include:
  • You feel an overwhelming, prolonged sense of helplessness and sadness.
  • Your problems don't seem to get better despite your efforts and help from family and friends.
  • You find it difficult to concentrate on work assignments or to carry out other everyday activities.
  • You worry excessively, expect the worst or are constantly on edge.
  • Your actions, such as drinking too much alcohol, using drugs or being aggressive, are harming you or others.
